A year after being traded away by the Jazz, guard Kevin Murphy has come full circle, signing a deal with Utah on Wednesday.

Murphy was the Jazz’s offering to Golden State in the salary dump trade that brought Richard Jefferson, Andris Biedrins and Brandon Rush to Utah last season. The former second-round draft pick was soon waived and spent last in the D-League. There, he put together an All-Star season for the Idaho Stampede, averaging 25.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals. He scored a career-high 51 points in February against the Los Angeles D-Fenders.

The Jazz drafted Murphy out of Tennessee Tech with the 47th pick in the 2012 draft. He appeared for the club in 17 games as a rookie.

Murphy joins a host of other recent signings by the Jazz, as the team tries to piece together its training camp roster. In recent weeks, the Jazz have announced deals with point guard Dee Bost, forward Jack Cooley, forward Brock Motum and they are expected to soon announce a deal with guard Toure’ Murry.
