It will be a mix of old faces and new ones on the Jazz bench next year.
Utah and new head coach Quin Snyder on Tuesday put the finishing touches on the 2014-15 coaching staff, giving three Jazz assistants from last year promotions while adding two new names to the mix.
"We have assembled a talented group of coaches with a track record of winning and successful player development," Snyder said in a news release. "They are high-character individuals with a diversity of experience ranging from playing professionally to coaching in the NBA, D-League, collegiately and overseas, and will be invaluable in building a strong foundation for this team."
Brad Jones, an assistant under Ty Corbin last year, will remain on the Jazz bench, acting as Snyder's lead assistant. Alex Jensen and Johnnie Bryant, both player development coaches last year, have also been named assistant coaches.
As reported last week, Mike Wells, a former NBA assistant with the Rockets, Spurs and Wizards, will be a part of Snyder's new staff in Utah. Rounding out the staff will be Antonio Lang, a two-time NCAA champion as a player, and, like Snyder, a Duke alum. Lang has spent the last eight years coaching in Japan.
Snyder, a first-time NBA head coach, will be surrounded by a number of former head coaches, though none that has done it at the highest level.
Jones and Jensen both had success as head coaches in the D-League, with Jensen being named the league's Coach of the Year and Jones leading the Austin Toros to a league championship. Lang, meanwhile, spent four seasons as a head coach in Japan, leading the Mitsubishi Diamond Dolphins.
