Wells was hired by Toledo in April, after doing stints with George Mason and South Florida on the collegiate level. Wells has extensive NBA experience, as well as ties with Snyder and Jazz general manager Dennis Lindsey from his time in San Antonio

"He is as good of a person as I’ve had a chance to be around," Toledo head coach Tod Kowalcyzk said. "I’m disappointed he’s leaving but I’m tremendously happy for him and his wife Jackie. The Utah Jazz are getting a first-class person."

In the NBA, Wells also has experience with the Houston Rockets and Washington Wizards. He has international chops as well, working as the head scout with Team USA from 1998-2003.

"He has a very very sound philosophy," Kowalcyzk said. "He’s worked for so many tremendous coaches from Jeff Van Gundy to Gregg Popovich to Rudy Tomjanovich to Flip Saunders. He’s been around some of the best teachers an coaches in the history of the game. He’s so well rounded. Any task Quin will ask him to do he’ll go above and beyond."
