The bloodlines are unmistakeable for Jerami Grant, a 6-foot-8 forward out of Syracuse.
His father is Harvey Grant, who played in the NBA for the Washington Wizards. His uncle is Horace Grant, the former power forward who helped spearhead the first three-peat of NBA titles for the Chicago Bulls.
Now, Jerami Grant is looking to make the NBA as a first round pick, much like his uncle and father did.
He worked out for the Jazz on Saturday morning in a group that included Michigan State forward Adreian Payne and Tennessee forward Jarnell Stokes. While he played power forward at Syracuse, Grant is looking to be a bit more perimeter based in the NBA, although he stresses that he's position-less.
"I just want to be a basketball player," Grant said. "I'm more of a small forward, but that's because I'm not big enough to be a power forward yet."
Grant has long arms and athleticism and was really good defensively in college. He has to improve his perimeter game, his handle and his shooting and has looked to prove that in workouts.
Still, his upside and athletic ability makes him intriguing as a late first round pick for the Jazz.
