Dirk Nowitzki scored 21 points and Monta Ellis added 16 to lead Dallas to a 95-83 victory over the Jazz on Tuesday night at EnergySolutions Arena.

On the Mavs' opening possession of the fourth quarter, Nowitzki hit an 18-footer from the right angle. The jumper gave him 26,711 points and moved him past Oscar Robertson for 10th place on the NBA's all-time scoring list.

The Jazz started quickly against the Mavs. They made their first six shots and took a 13-6 lead.

After a time-out, however, Nowitzki scored six straight points. He triggered a 24-8 run, which gave the Mavericks a 30-21 lead.

After making 16 of 17 shots, Dallas took a 39-25 lead lead into the second quarter.

The Mavericks seemed close to breaking away when they built a 56-40 lead with three minutes left. But Richard Jefferson, Gordon Hayward and Derrick Favors scored to keep Utah in the game.

In the third quarter, the Jazz used a dunk by Jeremy Evans to get as close as 67-55. But Nowitzki's three-point play started a 10-2 run that put the Mavericks back in control.

Enes Kanter led the Jazz with 15 points and a season-high 18 rebounds.
