Harris, a veteran journeyman out of Rice, was signed by the team in late September. The decision to waive him came Tuesday, ahead of the deadline to cut players before all contracts became guaranteed.

"It’s a business, but to see my teammates leaving like this is tough," Jazz center Enes Kanter said. "I’m just going to pray for him."

Kanter added, "I think he brought a lot of energy. To me, he was helping me when I came on the bench. He was always telling me things because he was watching on the bench. I think he was really good for our team, but it’s a business."

Harris’ best game of the year came on opening night, when he scored 13 points and grabbed four rebounds against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
