Trey Burke scored 21 points, including a crucial layup with 19.1 seconds remaining, to lead the Utah Jazz to a 83-80 victory over Charlotte on Monday night at EnergySolutions Arena.

The Bobcats trailed, 63-53, starting the fourth quarter. But they took a 77-76 lead on Kemba Walker's basket with 1:14 left.

Gordon Hayward put the Jazz back in front moments later and, after a defensive stop, Burke drove the lane and just beat the shot clock with a layup to make it 80-77 with 19.1 seconds left.

Charlotte missed twice on its next possession and the Jazz escaped with the victory.

In the first quarter, the Bobcats took an early 10-6 lead before Alec Burks came off the bench and scored six quick points.

It was 21-21 heading into the second quarter, when Hayward returned after playing only four minutes. He scored five points on two possessions as Utah opened a 28-21 lead.

The Jazz managed only one field goal in the final 3:58, but still stayed in front against cold-shooting Charlotte and led, 42-34.

The Bobcats made only 13 of their 38 field-goal attempts in the first half, including 2-for-6 by Walker.

The Jazz used a 9-0 run early in the third quarter to take a 57-43.

When Walker started warming up, however, the Bobcats were able to stay close enough to threaten down the stretch.
