Orlando, Fla. • The Utah Jazz will get a depleted Magic team tonight.
Orlando swingman Arron Afflalo is out sick, Magic head coach Jacque Vaughn says, and will not play tonight at Amway Center.
"We talked to our trainers this morning and instead of getting him around the guys we sent him to a doctor," Vaughn said, joking that the seven-year pro is in "quarantine."
Afflalo had started all 25 games for the 8-17 Magic, averaging better than 21 points a night. With him out, Orlando will start Tobias Harris at the three-spot.
Coming off back-to-back losses to the San Antonio Spurs, last season's runners-up, and the Miami Heat, the defending two-time champs, Wednesday night's contest would seem to be one of the best chances of this road trip for the Jazz to get back in the win column.
"We have to make sure we do the things we talked about," Jazz coach Ty Corbin said. "We planned on [Afflalo] playing. But we have to make sure we're aggressive and do the things we talked about doing as if he's playing. Typically when a guy like him is out, somebody else steps up. We have to make sure we don't relax any."
The Jazz will stick with their regular starting five: Trey Burke, Gordon Hayward, Richard Jefferson, Marvin Williams and Derrick Favors.
