Brooklyn, N.Y. • Brook Lopez scored 19 points and Joe Johnson added 10 more as the Brooklyn Nets built up a 54-38 halftime lead over the Utah Jazz Tuesday night.

In the search of their first win of the season, the Jazz put themselves in a hole early as the 7-foot Lopez poured in 11 first-quarter points. Utah, meanwhile, shot just 35 percent from the floor in the half.

Jazz center Enes Kanter hit his first five shots of the night and led the team with 15 at the break. Gordon Hayward had 13 points, four rebounds and three assists midway through the contest.

The game is the first of four in a five-night stretch for Utah. The Jazz play in Boston Wednesday before finishing the trip in Chicago on Friday and Toronto on Saturday.
