Brooklyn, N.Y. • Deron Williams has yet to score in double-digits and his Brooklyn Nets are sitting on a 1-2 record three games into a season in which his team is expected to compete for an NBA title.

Add to the mix that the All-Star point guard has yet to beat the team that drafted him, and there should be more than enough motivation for Williams as he takes on the Utah Jazz tonight. The game tips at 5:30 p.m. MT and will be televised on ROOT Sports.

"He's still a dynamic player," Jazz coach Ty Corbin said Tuesday morning at Barclay's Center. His numbers don't indicate what he can do on the offensive end yet, but you know how he can control a game. He can score baskets. He can get everybody else involved. He can post up smaller guards."

Williams will be matched up with Jamaal Tinsley to begin the game. Corbin said he's sticking with the same starting five he used Saturday night against the Houston Rockets. Utah dominated the first half against Houston, but the Rockets used a 30-point swing to beat the Jazz, keeping them winless on the season.

"You want to see the fruits of your labor," Corbin said. "It would be good to get something good to happen. We need to get a win here. We're looking for it every night we step out there. Tonight's going to be a tough contest for us."
