Oakland, Calif. • Derrick Favors came up with maybe the play of the season when he had a huge rejection of a Draymond Green jumper in the lane Sunday night that preserved the Jazz's 97-90 win over the Golden State Warriors. It was the biggest play in arguably the biggest win of the year to give the Jazz a ½ game lead over the Los Angeles Lakers for eighth in the Western Conference. Gulp. Gonna be a tight one, no?

Asked about Favors' block, teammate Marvin Williams said, "Derrick jokes around about the type of defensive player he is. But all jokes aside, he's a very, very good defensive player. He's always in great position; he's always there to help somebody."

The block was Favors' third of the night, which followed up a 6-rejection performance Friday against the New Orleans Hornets.

But what was that about jokes?

"He always tells me that he's going to hold a defensive camp this summer," Williams said. "So he wants me to come attend it. He really did put it on display tonight."

Asked about this rumored camp, the usually shy Favors gained some steam.

"I told Marv I'd get him half price," Favors joked. "Guaranteed improvement." So is this camp real? Favors said he's thinking about it. A Marvin Williams appearance is TBD.

Ty Corbin played a little offense-defense with Al Jefferson in the final minute, something fans have clamored for this season.

"I don't really feel pressure," Favors said. "I want to be in the game in the last minute."

Was talking schedule pregame with Earl Watson who called Sunday's game at Golden State "the big one." You can go ahead and call it the "big win." With games remaining against Oklahoma City and Minnesota, then at Minnesota and Memphis, a 3-1 finish seems very much within reach. That said, dropping one of those two against the Timberwolves - now healthy, by the way - would be devastating to the playoff hopes.

Check out PopcornMachine.net for the Jazz's lineups tonight. Without Alec Burks - a total after thought, given the result - Tyrone Corbin had to get creative. For 4 ½ minutes to start the second quarter he went with a group of Marvin Williams, DeMarre Carroll, Paul Millsap, Derrick Favors and Jamaal Tinsley.

Seriously, who's the 2-guard out there?

Here's Corbin:

"We had to jumble some thing up early there in the game and ended up without having a ball handler. Gordon got a little tired so I had to take him out, then we had DeMarre and Marvin out there with Jamaal and Jamaal did a great job of running the offense."

The unit didn't have the same impact as the one that started the second quarter against the Hornets two nights earlier, going minus-4. But they got the Jazz through a rough stretch as other dudes rested.
