Al Horford scored 34 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to carry the Atlanta Hawks to a 102-91 victory over the Jazz on Wednesday night at EnergySolutions Arena.
Al Jefferson led Utah with 26.
Hoping to snap a two-game losing streak, the Jazz started slowly.
They converted only three of their first 12 possessions and, after a Kyle Korver three-pointer, the Hawks opened a 21-13 lead.
Jefferson scored six points in the final three minutes of the first quarter to keep Utah in the game, but Atlanta built a 39-30 lead early in the second quarter.
Utah followed with a 9-0 run to tie the game, but the Hawks used a zone defense in the final minutes of the half to slow the Jazz’s offense and take their eight-point lead.
Atlanta dominated the third quarter and built an 80-60 lead. The Jazz rallied and got as close as seven in the final 1:11, but they never seriously threatened to overtake the Hawks.
