Jazz assistant coach Sidney Lowe broke his silence Wednesday over his tax-related legal issues.

Through his Raleigh, N.C.-based attorney, Lee Turner Jr., Lowe has issued an apology for his arrest on charges of willful failure to file state income tax returns.

In a statement, Lowe said, "I would like to apologize to the Utah Jazz organization and Jazz fans for the situation that was reported publicly [Monday].

"This is a personal matter that I take very seriously. I am working very hard to get the issue resolved in a timely manner and I am cooperating fully with all parties involved."

Lowe was arrested and briefly jailed in Wake County, N.C., on three misdemeanor charges after the state's Department of Revenue charged he failed to file state income returns in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Said Jazz head coach Tyrone Corbin: "We're moving forward. It's a personal situation he's dealing with. We support him whole-heartedly. He understands ... and he'll move on."

Hayward says his shoulder feels fine

Gordon Hayward said his injured shoulder felt fine after his first game since Jan. 26.

Hayward played almost 25 minutes in the Jazz's 115-101 victory over Golden State on Tuesday night. He finished with 17 points, four assists and three rebounds.

"It's good," Hayward said prior to practice. "I mean, it's a little sore right now, but that's to be expected. I felt great during the game — it was good to be back out there."

According to Hayward, he will be "ready to go" when the Jazz put a three-game winning streak on the line Saturday against the L.A. Clippers at Staples Center.

Hayward missed 10 games because of the shoulder injury.

Hayward credited the Jazz training staff and assistant coach Jeff Hornacek with helping him stay in good enough shape to play so long and so well in his return game.

"I did a lot of treadmill work and bike work — different things like that — to try and make sure I'd be ready," Hayward said.

Jazz now tied for sixth in West Conference

The win enabled the Jazz to move into a tie with the Warriors for sixth place in the Western Conference.

At 31-24, Utah is seven games over .500 for the first time this season.

The Jazz have 27 games remaining, including 14 at home, 10 against Eastern Conference opponents and 11 against teams currently headed for the lottery.

"We feel good about where we are, especially after [Tuesday] night," Corbin said. "It was a two-game swing against a team that was in front of us in the standings. We're in a good place. We can kind of control our own destiny."

Asked if his expectations have changed, Corbin said, "The goal is [still] to finish as high as we can — whatever that is. I don't want to put a number on it. But we want to finish as high as we can and try to get home-court advantage" in the playoffs.
