Utah Jazz defeat Oklahoma City Thunder, 109-94
Al Jefferson scored 23 points and Paul Millsap added 18 to lead the Utah Jazz to a 109-94 victory over Oklahoma City on Tuesday night at EnergySolutions Arena.
Kevin Durant scored 33 points to pace the Thunder. Russell Westbrook added 22.
Hoping to snap a two-game losing streak, the Jazz started slowly.
They converted only one of their first seven possessions and found themselves trailing, 7-2, four minutes into the game.
Millsap got Utah started, however, with six quick points.
Down 16-12, DeMarre Carroll capped a 16-8 run with a late three-pointer that gave the Jazz a late 28-24 lead.
In the second quarter, Oklahome City moved back in front, 38-36.
It was still 42-41 when Randy Foye scored and Earl Watson converted a Thunder turnover into a layup.
Over the next three minutes, Utah outscored Oklahoma City, 15-4. The Jazz built a 56-46 lead before settling for a 58-52 halftime advantage.
In the third quarter, it was 67-61 before Jamaal Tinsley buried two three-point shots and Alec Burks added another.
A 13-6 run gave Utah an 80-67 lead, but Durant scored eight points in the final 1:55 to keep the Thunder close.
The Jazz open the fourth quarter with an 86-79 lead and, stunningly, dominate Oklahoma City behind the play of Derrick Favors, Burks, Watson and Jefferson.
