Sacramento, Calif. • The Jazz still have no idea how to avoid slow starts, but they’ve been able to mask it with great recoveries.
The Jazz fell behind once again Saturday but rallied behind 15 points from Randy Foye to take a 56-51 halftime lead over the Kings at Sleep Train Arena.
The Jazz trailed 8-0 when coach Tyrone Corbin called a timeout with 8 minutes, 29 seconds remaining in the first quarter. The Jazz went on a 16-6 run and ran away with the first quarter, in which Foye was 4 of 5 on 3-pointers.
It was the first-year Jazz guard’s best performance since joining the starting lineup four games ago in Washington.
The Jazz are playing without point guard Mo Williams, who was held out after injuring his right foot in Friday’s 104-102 win over the Kings at EnergySolutions Arena. In his place, Jamaal Tinsley started, scored three points and recorded three assists. The bigger story at the position, though, is that of Earl Watson.
In his second game back with the Jazz after April knee surgery, Watson made both of his baskets, scored four points, dished out three assists and added four steals.
Jason Thompson leads the Kings with 11 points, while DeMarcus Cousins added 10 points and seven rebounds.
