Minneapolis • The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with free agent Josh Howard, pending a physical.

A person with knowledge of the deal says the agreement came Thursday, one day after the Wolves lost at home to Charlotte with six of their top seven players out. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal has not been officially announced. ESPN.com first reported the agreement.

The 32-year-old Howard worked out for the Wolves on Monday in Dallas. Howard averaged 8.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in 43 games with Utah last season. He has also played for Washington and Dallas.

Minnesota is missing Kevin Love, Ricky Rubio, Chase Budinger, JJ Barea, Nikola Pekovic and Brandon Roy because of injuries.
