There are 19 players on the Jazz's preseason roster.

Eighteen of them showed up for Utah's annual media day Monday afternoon at the team's practice facility.

As previously announced by the Jazz, Raja Bell is not in camp, which starts in earnest with two-a-day practices Tuesday morning.

Bell has one year and $3.5 million remaining on his contract.

After an explosive feud with coach Tyrone Corbin last season, however, the veteran guard is not expected to return to the team.

The two sides reportedly have been working on a possible buyout, although the Jazz announced recently they would avoid making future comments on the situation until "the appropriate time."

Media day, obviously, was not the appropriate time.

Asked about Bell and any possible future he has in Utah, new general manager Dennis Lindsey said, "No comment.

So did Corbin.

Meanwhile, Bell's teammates — perhaps soon-to-be former teammates — acknowledged the situation but expressed the belief it would not impact training camp.

"Not at all," forward Paul Millsap said.

Point guard Earl Watson agreed, saying, "I don't think so. That's part of the business. Nobody knows the details of those situations and the communication between the two [sides]. But management will figure it out and we'll move forward as a team."

Bell, 36, has played 12 seasons in the NBA.

Known as an outstanding defender, he also has shot 40 percent from the 3-point line in his career.

One of the Jazz's glaring weaknesses last season was 3-point shooting.

Utah was swept out of the first round of the playoffs by San Antonio, which clogged the middle and forced the Jazz to the perimeter.

They made only 9 of 45 3-pointers, or 20 percent, in the series. Gordon Hayward was 1 of 12. Devin Harris, who was traded to Atlanta last summer, went 4 of 15.

In an effort to improve their outside shooting, the Jazz added Mo Williams, Marvin Williams and Randy Foye to the roster in the offseason.

Mo Williams, in particular, possesses many Bell-like qualities.

"He brings a lot of swagger to this team," Watson said. "He plays with a ton of confidence. I like him. He plays with a lot of fire. ... Playing alongside him is going to be fun."

Jazz CEO Greg Miller likes the look of his team.

"We've made some exciting new additions to the team," he said. "All those moves have been very positive. They make us a better franchise and, ultimately, they will help us win more games." —
