League sources with direct knowledge of the situation said Friday the Jazz intend to pick up 2012-13 team options for veteran backup point guard Jamaal Tinsley and reserve small forward DeMarre Carroll.

If the Jazz pick up Tinsley's option, Utah will have four veteran point guards on its roster: Devin Harris, Mo Williams, Earl Watson and Tinsley.

Watson is recovering from knee surgery while Williams will soon be acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers in a multiteam deal.

Harris was Utah's starter last season and helped guide the Jazz to the first round of the NBA playoffs. He'll hold an expiring contract Sunday, though, and an overall up-and-down performance with Utah has somewhat offset his strong finish at the end of the 2011-12 campaign.Brian T. Smith
