Charlotte, N.C. •Derrick Favors with a power slam. With a block. With a layup, reverse dunk and … another power slam.

D-Fav was in fine form Wednesday in the Jazz's 99-93 win against the Bobcats. Fourteen points on 7-of-10 shooting, seven rebounds (four of them on offense) two blocks and a steal. All in just 17 minutes, 53 seconds, in a night when he was Utah's second-leading rebounder and third-leading scorer.

"It's just getting into a groove," Favors said. "Every opportunity I get, just try to be aggressive, try to score and just make the right play."

The Jazz's backup power forward was beastly against Charlotte, and he drew praise from Utah coach Tyrone Corbin for owning the post.

Once Jazz starting big men Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap leave the game, Utah needs someone to step up inside. While rookie Enes Kanter and Favors have often played beyond their age this season, their points often come via putbacks, rather than through dominating play along the entire box.

"That's where we want [Favors'] growth to come. … Between he and Enes, we should be able to get some more post play out of one of the two guys on different nights, and be able to get that thing inside and read each other," Corbin said.

He added: "[Kanter] will get better and Derrick'll get better. But Derrick right now is a little bit more advanced. We can throw it to him a little bit and see what we can get, as long as he attacks the basket."

All clear

Jazz point guard Devin Harris said he had no problems running the court, despite playing with a sprained right knee.

Initially listed as a game-time decision, Harris was activated after shootaround and responded with nine points, four assists and four rebounds.
