The Jazz's under-22 team helped wear out Memphis on Friday night at EnergySolutions Arena.

Gordon Hayward, Derrick Favors, Alec Burks and Enes Kanter played almost 66 minutes during Utah's 94-85 victory over the Grizzlies.

They contributed 21 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks.

More importantly, they helped create a tempo that seemed to take advantage of the Grizzlies, who are dealing with the loss-by-injury to rotation regulars Zach Randolph and Darrell Arthur.

"They may have [gotten tired]," said Hayward. "But I'd like to attribute it to us being physical defensively and kind of wearing them down a little bit."

It's possible.

In the second half, the Grizzlies scored only 38 points on 33.3 percent shooting. They missed nine of their 10 three-point shots.

While only one Memphis non-starter played more than 4:26 in the second half, the Jazz's young guns combined to play 38.

Hayward, Favors, Burks and Kanter each got on the court in the fourth quarter.

"Youth is what it is," coach Tyrone Corbin said. "You're going to make some mistakes — with young guys. But they have young legs and young legs can mean good things, too."

Take Hayward, for instance.

After the Grizzlies rallied from a 10-point deficit to make it 78-73 with 3:45 remaining, he drove the baseline and dunked over Marc Gasol.

On the previous possession, Hayward went to the basket and missed, although he might have been fouled.

"I was frustrated," Hayward said. "It seems like every time I drive in there and try to create some contact there's no call. So I just thought, 'I'm going to dunk this.' I still didn't get a call, but I got two points."

General manager Kevin O'Connor credited Corbin for rewarding his young group of players for effort and impact.

"Coach is doing a great job of playing the guys who are competing," O'Connor said. "If you aren't going to compete, not going to guard people and not doing what you're supposed to out there, you're not going to get on the court. You have to earn things. Nobody is going to be given anything." —
