Jazz guard Deron Williams said he will miss the team's next two preseason games due to a strained right hamstring.

Utah has officially ruled Williams out for a road contest Saturday against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Williams suffered the strain during the Jazz's preseason opener versus Portland on Oct. 7.

He played through the injury the past three games. But with Williams not regularly playing during the second quarter of Utah's exhibition contests, he said the pain consistently began to flare up.

"It hurts every third quarter ," Williams said Friday, prior to a Jazz workout at the team practice facility. "And [Thursday] it got pretty bad."

Williams played 22:30 during Utah's 108-97 home win over Phoenix on Thursday. He scored 11 points, grabbed six rebounds and had five assists.

With Williams out, reserves Ronnie Price, Earl Watson and Sundiata Gaines will handle point-guard duties.

"It's just smart to sit these next two out, let it heal, and try to play Tuesday," Williams said. —
