Huntsman to tour medical lab in Utah
Washington • Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. will tour a medical-testing company Tuesday when he visits Utah for the first time since announcing his formal bid for the White House.
Huntsman is slated to visit the headquarters of Nelson Labs on Redwood Road in Taylorsville, then meet with reporters before attending a private finance luncheon. The company, which tests medical devices and offers various other services for pharmaceuticals and tissue samples, reports that it has continued to grow even in a down economy.
Nelson Labs, founded in 1985, added a new building to its campus in 2010, boosting its office space by 48,000 square feet for its 300 scientists and support staff.
Huntsman had been scheduled to visit Utah on Friday when rival presidential candidate Mitt Romney was in the state, but the Huntsman campaign postponed the trip because of travel logistics, aides said.
Tuesday morning, Huntsman also is scheduled to speak at the eighth annual Real Estate and Capital Markets Conference in Park City. That speech is closed to news media.
