Redesigned Ski Utah website offers new information, look
Update » New tool has custom weather reports for resorts, tab to view videos.

Travelers, especially skiers, often turn to websites to get information on resorts, deals and snow conditions.

That’s a big reason why Ski Utah decided its venerable site, www.skiutah.com, needed a new look this year.

According to Susie English, the group’s communications director, the new site offers more in the way of information as well as an increased advertising potential that was not available on the old site.

"We are a membership organization," she explained. "With a basic membership to Ski Utah, you get a listing on the website. That is a huge added benefit for visitors. There is so much information on the website."

The key element remains the daily snow report, which is the page’s most visited tab. New this year is an addition with a custom weather report from Wasatch Snow Center, a short 100-word prediction of what might be expected in the future. The report is the official one for the resort.

At the top of the website, there are tabs for resorts, blogs written by local experts, planning, deals, passes and resources. There is also a tab to view ski videos.

The site includes a large map of Utah’s 14 ski areas, where you can click on each resort and a tab for a snow report at individual resorts or for every resort. The map is designed to give visitors an idea of the proximity of the resorts to each other and to Salt Lake International airport. From there, visitors can fine tune their search by choosing different amenities and deals based on proximity to a specific resort.

For example, English said that a skier who knows he or she is going to Deer Valley and wants to stay within 10 miles of the resort can search specifically for that. Restaurants and lodging options will come up.

There is a Delta Air Lines tab, a ski video section, a place to find gear and rental cars.

The site provides information on what the resorts have to offer including events, deals, trip planning tools, a new travel expert blogger and imagery showing off the state’s beauty.
