To promote safe work environments, Lt. Gov. Greg Bell and state Sen. Karen Mayne on Monday kicked off Workplace Safety Week in Utah.

Job-site safety saves lives, Bell and Mayne said during a ceremony at the work site for the Eccles Outpatient Services Building at Primary Children's Medical Center , one of the largest construction projects under way in Salt Lake City.

By designating a Workplace Safety Week, the state of Utah is demonstrating the commitment of elected officials and employers to create safe job conditions for Utah workers, Bell and Mayne said.
