Valentine’s Day may be Thursday, Feb. 14, but many Utah restaurants are offering romantic dining specials all week long. It’s welcome news for those who want to avoid the crowds on one of the busiest dining days of the year.

If you want to celebrate early, make reservations for the "Deadly Sins" wine event on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Meditrina, 1394 S. West Temple, Salt Lake City. For its monthly wine social, chef and owner Jennifer Gilroy will create four different culinary creations, each one pays homage to one of her favorite deadline sins: gluttony, wrath, envy and lust. The social runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Food is $20. Wine is an additional $20. Call 801-503-0362 for a reservation.

"It’s kind of the "anti-Valentine’s" day," Gilroy explained. "I thought about doing the seven virtues, but that was kind of boring. So we ended up with deady sins, which goes so well with food and wine."
