Three finalists are vying to be the next superintendent of Jordan School District.

The Jordan Board of Education has winnowed the field to three candidates: Gregory Hudnall, associate superintendent of student services for Provo School District; Samuel Ray, principal of Provo High; and Patrice Johnson, associate superintendent of schools for Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nev.

One of these three will replace Barry Newbold, who retired in January after 14 years at the helm. David Stoddard is serving as interim superintendent.

In January, the Jordan board reopened its search for a new superintendent after receiving only four applications in December. All four were from Utah.

On April 14, residents of Jordan district are invited to meet the three finalists at an open house, 6-8 p.m., in the north auditorium of the auxiliary services building, 7905 S. Redwood Road (1700 West), West Jordan. The Board of Education plans to name the new superintendent on April 19.
