SJR12 • The Senate on Thursday endorsed a call for Congress to address the illegal immigration issue.

It voted 25-0 to pass SJR12 by Sen. Stuart Reid, R-Ogden, and sent it to the House. "It calls upon Congress to do their job when it comes to immigration," Reid said.

It also noted that Congress has "dominant authority" over immigration policy. But it said if it fails to act on immigration, it should give states the power to "resolve the immigration policy challenges within their own borders."

It also called on Utah's congressional delegation to take steps toward those ends.
