Repeal of phosphorus ban is stopped

HB246 • There will be no repeal of a ban on phosphorous in dishwasher soap as a House committee Tuesday killed the proposal by Rep. Stephen Sandstrom, R-Orem. HB246 was an attempt to address complaints from people about dishes staying dirty after running through a dishwasher cycle. Several members of a committee pointed out manufacturers of dishwasher soap had already removed phosphorous from their products. A 6-6 vote tabled the bill.
