Police say a drunken Salt Lake City man became so enraged with his girlfriend's father that he bit off a chunk of the man's nose — then stuck his fingers in the victim's mouth and ripped open the side of his face.

The 22-year-old was being held in Salt Lake County Jail on Thursday on $75,000 bail, charged with two second-degree felony counts of mayhem and one count of second-degree felony aggravated assault.

In addition, the man was charged with domestic violence in the presence of a child because the girlfriend's toddler daughter was home at the time of the alleged assault.

The incident allegedly occurred Sunday, police said.
