A 32-year-old Payson man was sentenced Tuesday to up to 20 years in prison for sexual crimes that include contacting a 14-year-old girl over the Internet, meeting her outside her Provo home and forcing her to perform sexual acts in front of his son.
Christopher A. Boyer pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor for the case involving the 14-year-old girl. He also pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony counts of sexual abuse for molesting another girl in 2007 and 2008 when the victim was 8 to 10 years old.
Fourth District Judge Fred Howard sentenced Boyer to the maximum punishment by ordering all four counts to run consecutively.
Boyer met the 14-year-old girl on the Internet, communicated with her for about two months via text messages and telephone, and then arranged to meet her the night of Jan. 29, 2010, according to police.
The girl was waiting outside her Provo home when Boyer pulled up and parked his car at the curb, according to prosecutors.
Boyer and the girl began engaging in sexual acts in the back seat of his car, prosecutors said. But when Boyer's 11-year-old autistic son began screaming in the front seat, Boyer turned up the music in his car to drown him out.
The loud music attracted the attention of the girl's parents, who noticed the front door of their home was open and that their daughter was missing.
When the girl's father looked inside the car and saw his daughter, he called police.
Boyer was arrested and the boy was released to Boyer's mother.
Boyer was initially charged with two counts of forcible sodomy and one count of object rape, all first-degree felonies. He also was charged with misdemeanor counts of lewdness involving a child and enticing a minor over the Internet.
