The victim of fatal car accident on Interstate 15, two miles south of Cedar City, has been identified as a 74-year-old Enoch woman.

About 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Patricia Hamilton was riding with Theodore Hamilton, 77, in a 2005 Nissan Altima when their car crashed.

The couple were traveling south in the left-hand lane when the driver, Theodore Hamilton lost control of the car, spun around and hit the rear corner of a semi truck that had stopped on the right emergency lane of I-15, the Utah Highway Patrol reported.

Officials still don't know what caused him to lose control.

Patricia Hamilton, who was wearing her seat belt, died at the scene. Theodore Hamilton was seriously injured and taken to Valley View Medical Center, UHP said.

The semi's driver, Brian York, 41, of Erie, Pa., and passenger Charles Piatt, 48, of Rock Springs, Wyo., were wearing their seat belts and did not sustain any injuries, UHP said.
