An 18-year-old Provo man was hospitalized this weekend after crashing during a high-speed chase through Utah County.

On Saturday at about 11:30 p.m., an Orem police officer pulled over a car that had stolen license plates. The driver stopped at about 155 S. 1200 West, but then took off while the officer ran the vehicle's VIN, said Orem police Sgt. Craig Martinez.

The driver sped along 1200 West and turned north onto Interstate 15, going about 90 mph. He took the 500 East American Fork exit, which is under construction. The driver crashed on the off-ramp and was taken to the hospital with several broken bones, Martinez said. Another adult male passenger in the car was uninjured and faced no charges.

The green Honda two-door vehicle was stolen from American Fork and the license plates were from Provo, Martinez said.
