The Jordan School District board has picked an interim superintendent while it searches for a long-term replacement for Barry Newbold.
David Stoddard, Jordan's administrator of Herriman and Riverton schools, will step up as acting superintendent when Newbold retires on Jan. 1. Stoddard has worked in education for 32 years, including as a teacher, basketball coach, bus driver and school principal.
The board delayed its hiring plans so that two new members elected this month, Susan Pulsipher and Corbin White, can participate in the selection. The board plans to hire someone by July 1.
The Utah School Boards Association is handling the search. Applications are due on Dec. 6.
