Canyon roads in Salt Lake County will be closed intermittently the next two days as crews test fire avalanche control devices, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.

The road in Big Cottonwood Canyon will be closed at times on Wednesday, and the road in Little Cottonwood Canyon will be closed periodically on Thursday.

Crews will be firing cannons and other devices to test for accuracy and safety at different locations throughout those canyons.
