The state's highest court has agreed to consider suspending an injunction against an Ogden street gang.

The Utah Supreme Court will hear arguments at 4 p.m. Monday. Attorneys for accused members of the gang Ogden Trece will argue the injunction should be suspended until courts have the chance to better review it.

The injunction, issued Sept. 27 by 2nd District Court Judge Ernie Jones, limits Ogden Trece members' ability to associate with one another, imposes a curfew on them, prevents them from possessing graffiti tools and places other restrictions in a zone that includes most of Ogden.

The Weber County attorney has called the gang a public nuisance responsible for violent crimes, while defense attorneys have said the injunction is overly broad and violates civil rights. It's the first such injunction in Utah.
