St. George • Southern Utah is being promoted as a destination for companies looking to relocate or expand their operations even as the region wallows in economic hardship.

The Boyd Company, a Princeton, N.J.-based site selection firm, lists the region as one of the Southwest region's top business draws.

Consultant John Boyd said the region is primed for industrial growth.

Washington County's cloud also is its silver lining: Boyd says the troubled real estate market offers bargains on commercial and residential listings. He calls that a huge advantage that will bring more jobs.

Insituform Technologies, which makes pipe products, is among California companies leaving for Utah. The company is relocating a Bay Area factory to Cedar City.
