Washington • Medical examiners have ruled the death of a University of Utah intern here as accidental.
Eric Wright, the son of KSL radio personality Doug Wright, fell to his death from a seven-story building after a late-night party Aug. 28. He was a week into his internship in the office of Rep. Rob Bishop, R-Utah, when he was found unconscious in the alley behind a new apartment complex in the northwest quadrant of the city. The 23-year-old was later pronounced dead and Washington Metro Police called in homicide investigators.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Tuesday that its probe of the death had been closed and Wright's death ruled as an accident. Wright died of "multiple blunt impact injuries," the office said.
Wright was serving an internship through the University of Utah's Hinckley Institute of Politics. The institute's director, Kirk Jowers, said previously that police told him Wright had accidentally fallen off the roof of the building and no foul play was suspected.
The Hinckley Institute has since set up a scholarship fund in Eric Wright's name at www.ericwrightscholarship.com.
