A 19-year-old man who drowned at Sand Hollow State Park on Friday has been identified as Oscar Juvera, of Prescott Valley, Ariz.

He was one of a group of students from Dixie State College in St. George who visited the park Friday afternoon, said Laura Melling, park manager.

Juvera swam about 200 yards from the shore of the park's reservoir. When he disappeared under the water, the other students notified park rangers. A ranger took some of the students out on a boat and they pulled him on board.

Juvera was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Melling did not know if the group of students had gone to the park on a school outing or if they went there on their own.
