After the 2010 Census, the Salt Lake County Council will need someone to redraw voting districts for council and school board posts.
Want to do it?
The council is accepting applications until mid-September for people willing to serve on its independent redistricting commission.
That panel the brainchild of Democratic Councilman Joe Hatch will consist of seven members and a nonvoting clerk. The county will allow no more than three members from the same political party to serve.
Hatch hopes the commission will "take the politics out" of an otherwise hyper-political process.
Applications are available at the Salt Lake County Government Center, 2001 S. State St., in the North Building's second-floor council offices. An electronic version will soon be available online at www.slco.org.
