Science Movie Night

Sept. 7 • The Utah Museum of Natural History announces its Science Movie Night, screening the documentary "The Life of Birds" that explores the most colorful, popular birds on Earth. After the movie, Bruce Thompson, Tracy Aviary's director of education, will discuss a variety of Utah's birds. 6:30 p.m. at the Main Library, 210 E. 400 South, Salt Lake City.

Rooftop concerts

Sept. 10 • Provo City kicks off its first Rooftop Concert Series with local singer-songwriter Benton Paul. 8 p.m. on the roof of the Provo Town Square parking terrace. Paul has shared the stage with artists such as the Jonas Brothers and David Archuleta, and rubbed shoulders with Jimmy Eat World, Vertical Horizon and The Killers. Park City concert series

Sept. 10 • Newpark Town Center continues its new Friday Night Fall Concert Series. This week Sin City Soul performs from 6-8 p.m. at the center, 1456 Newpark Blvd., Park City.

Broadway and opera under the stars

Sept. 10 • Come enjoy a little Broadway and opera under the stars. Utah opera singers Genevieve Christianson and Christopher Holmes will perform songs from shows such as "Phantom of the Opera," "West Side Story" and "The Magic Flute." The event will also display "Salt City 50," an exhibit featuring 25 local shutterbugs, including amateur and professional work. 5:30 p.m. at The Gallivan Center, 239 S. Main St., Salt Lake City. Celebrate Gilgal Garden

Sept. 12 • The Friends of Gilgal Garden invites you to a 10th-anniversary celebration featuring live music, artists in action, children's activities and refreshments. Don't miss your opportunity to take a full tour of the garden and see the sculptures, which have been recently been restored to their original condition. 2-6 p.m. at the garden, 749 E. 500 South, Salt Lake City. Craft Sabbath

Sept. 12 • Craft Sabbath, the independent, alternative craft festival, invites you to the first of its monthly offerings at the Main Library. The event features 23 artists who make everything from jewelry to embroidered items to baby gifts. The show also features craft oddities, such as handcrafted bacon and irreverent zombies. 1-5 p.m. at the Urban Room in the Main Library, 210 E. 400 South, Salt Lake City.
