Unified Fire Authority firefighters Monday contained a small wildfire that burned in Herriman near Shaggy Mountain Road.

Several residents reported the blaze after seeing smoke in the area. Firefighters responded and were able to contain the fire before nightfall, according to UFA Battalion Chief Clint Smith. Firefighters will return to the burned area in the morning, with hopes of extinguishing it by this evening, Smith said.

The fire burned about 2 to 3 acres, Smith said. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
