Men injured in Zion National Park flash flood

Three men survived a flash flood that washed them down a canyon Saturday in Zion National Park.

Two men suffered serious injuries and a helicopter flew them to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George. The third man suffered less severe injuries. An ambulance took him to Dixie Regional.

The three, all from Las Vegas, were canyoneering in Spry Canyon. Zion National Park spokesman Ron Terry said an afternoon thunderstorm poured an inch of water on the southern end of the park in less than 30 minutes.

A rush of water washed all three men over a 40-foot vertical drop, Terry said. Two of the men also went over a 60-foot drop.
