Climber rescued after fall in Little Cottonwood Canyon

Crews rescued a woman who suffered serious injuries in a fall while climbing in Little Cottonwood Canyon on Saturday.

The woman, thought to be in her early 20s, was about 30 feet up Beckey’s Wall when she fell at about 12:30 p.m., said Unified Fire Authority Capt. Clint Mecham. Her male companion called 911. When crews reached her she had a head injury and a broken collar bone. She was flown to Intermountain Medical Center. The canyon was closed for about an hour for the medical helicopter to land, but it was reopened shortly after 2 p.m. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening.
