Friends and co-workers of a bicyclist killed in a Draper accident this week came to the Holladay gym Thursday where she had worked to remember her warm, enthusiastic personality.
Those close to Elizabeth “Bunny” Bradley wore white ribbons in her memory at the Xcel gym, where she was a part-time Pilates instructor and exercised every morning. White ribbons were also tied around the entrance to the facility.
“She was sincerely the most genuine person you would ever meet,” said Nate Brown, a sales and personal training manager at Xcel. “She had such an easy-going personality. She was just primarily interested in helping people.”
Brown said hundreds of members were calling the gym Thursday morning expressing their condolences. The gym hopes to place a box at the check-in desk for visitors to write comments to the family.
Bradley, whom Brown described as an avid cyclist, was riding with about nine friends when a pickup truck spun into the riders near 300 East and Highland Drive in Draper. Police said the truck first collided with an SUV after crossing the center line, then veered into the riders.
Bradley, who had been wearing a helmet, was airlifted to University Hospital in Salt Lake City and placed on life support. She died Thursday shortly after midnight, said hospital spokesman Ryann Rasmussen.
No other riders were seriously injured. Draper police said Thursday they were still investigating why the truck crossed the center line and were awaiting toxicology reports.
Liz Raybould, who went to Brighton High School with Bradley before working with her at Xcel, said Bradley was an extremely dedicated mother, taking care of daughters Clair, 4, and Maggie, 3 months.
“She bounced back right after she had her baby,” she said. “She had the zest for life to do that.”
Natalie Watson, Bradley’s sister-in-law, said her hobbies included running, cooking and vacationing on the beach, but she always made sure to put her family first.
“She had so much energy and drive, and she gave her best at everything she did,” Watson said.
