Out and about: The Head and the Heart close out Twilight series
First Published Aug 21 2014 11:41 am • Last Updated Aug 22 2014 03:03 pm

The Head and the Heart » It’s been five years since Josiah Johnson and Jonathan Russell met in a Seattle pub’s open-mic night and started forming the indie-folk band The Head and the Heart. The two transplanted singer/guitarists were joined by violinist Charity Rose Thielen, pianist Kenny Hensley, drummer Tyler Williams (who knew Russell back in Richmond, Va., and moved to Seattle after hearing one demo tape) and bassist Chris Zasche (who tended bar in that Seattle pub). They recorded their debut album on their own, selling CDs in handmade denim sleeves. Seattle’s Sub Pop Records signed the band immediately; their second album, "Let’s Be Still," was released in 2013. The group arrives in Salt Lake City to finish out this year’s Twilight Concert Series. Opening act: San Fermin.
