Utah health inspectors close sushi restaurant, taco cart

Salt Lake County Health Department inspectors closed a sushi restaurant in Midvale and a taco cart in Kearns last week for creating "imminent health hazards."

Itto Sushi, 856 E. Fort Union Blvd., was closed Friday after being cited for 31 health code violations, according to a notice on the department website. Among the problems: raw fish being stored in the hand sink, raw chicken stored above ready-to-eat foods, rice being held at incorrect temperatures and food being stored on the floor.

The Tacos Guanajuato Cart, 5404 S. 4220 West, was closed Thursday after inspectors discovered 11 health code violations, the website showed.

The cart was not returning daily to an approved commissary, had a blocked hand sink and stored food at incorrect temperatures, , inspectors wrote. Numerous flies also were present because trailer windows had no screens.

Both eateries may reopen when the violations are corrected and health inspectors deem them safe for customers.
