The Naked and Famous

Show of the week • The New Zealand alt-rock band The Naked and Famous made a splash in 2009 with the single "Young Blood." That platinum hit highlighted the strengths of its two founding members, vocalist/guitarist Thom Powers and singer/keyboardist Alisa Xayalith, whose piercing voice is one of the band's trademarks. The Naked and Famous (the band's name comes from a lyric by Tricky and describes the members' ambivalence with fame) is now touring to support its second album, "In Rolling Waves," which has so far generated one single, "Hearts Like Ours." Opening act: White Sea, which is Morgan Kibby, the L.A.-based performer known for her work in M83.
