Grub Steak, Log Haven win Utah restaurant awards

Park City business owners often lease out their restaurants or galleries during Sundance to pay the bills for the rest of the year. But others, like Hans Fuegi, the chef/owner of Grub Steak, won't do it.

Hans Fuegi, of Grub Steak restaurant in Park City, was named "Restaurateur of the Year," and Margo Provost, owner of Log Haven Restaurant in Salt Lake City, became the first women inducted into the "Hall of Fame," during the Utah Restaurant Association’s (URA) annual meeting and awards dinner held last week at the University of Utah.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Gary Roberts, who has owned and operated Arctic Circle restaurants for more than 50 years.

The URA also recognized Murray High School, the winner of the Pro Start Culinary competition, and Provo High, the winner of the Pro Start Management competition. Kay Morgan, a teacher at Murray High, was named the Pro Start Teacher of the Year.



Several Utah food vendors and suppliers also were honored for their service and contributions including: Bintz Restaurant Supply, US Foods, Nicholas & Company, Sysco Intermountain and Muir Copper Canyon.
