Finding your favorite booze just got easier in Utah
Wondering if the state liquor store down the street carries your favorite chardonnay, whiskey or stout? A new feature on the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control website helps consumers search inventory and find products sold through the state-run alcohol system.
Visit alcbev.state.ut.us and click on the "locate a product" icon. Type in the product name such as "High West whiskey" or "Squatters Outer Darkness" and a list of stores and the number of bottles in stock will be provided.
If an item has been discontinued or is available only by special order it will be noted.
The inventory search works even if you don't know a specific producer's name and are just looking for something general such as "prosecco" or "chianti."
The new feature has been available for more than a month, and was implemented because consumers requested it, said Salvador D. Petilos, UDABC executive director. "We have 44 stores and not every one has the same items."
He said the information is updated daily, but calling ahead to make sure items have not sold out is still a good idea.
