LEGO ‘Simpsons’ is no copycat
First Published May 02 2014 03:18 pm • Last Updated May 04 2014 07:15 pm

The LEGO episode of "The Simpsons" (Sunday at 7 on Fox/Ch. 13) was not inspired by "The LEGO Movie," even though it’s airing three months after the movie was released.

"It’s been in the works a long time — about a year and a half on our end," said executive producer Al Jean. That’s about twice as long as most episodes.

"It’s a terrific episode written by Brian Kelley, who, a long while ago, said, ‘What would happen if Homer basically, in his imagination, went into a world of LEGO?’ "
